MULTIWAVE 1600

The CIENA MultiWave 1600 DWDM platform dramatically enhanced performance by applying 16 wavelengths of OC-48 to a single fiber. By placing a 16-channel DWWDM unit on a 2.5 Gb/s fiber, the transmission rate swells to 40 Gb/s. Consequently, the number of voice or data calls that a fiber strand can handle jumps from 32,000 to 512,000.
